Breeds of Cattle at R.A. Brown |
 |
Angus
With ten bulls in major AI studs (Blue Moon, At Ease, Load Up,
Leverage, Summit, Payload, Fed Ex, Exceed, Satisfaction & All Around)
and some of the most sought after donor females in the industry, our
Angus herd has come to the forefront of the breed in the past decade. We
attribute this to disciplined breeding strategies of using proven AI
sires generation after generation along with sampling the best young
bulls we can use natural service. We generally use these young bulls for
only one or two seasons and then sell them in our sale. We select for
calving ease with high growth in a moderately framed package, plus
strong carcass traits, superior reproductive efficiency and adaptability
to hot and harsh climates. |

Hotlander
We developed the Hotlander™ composite in the late 1980’s with the help
of experts like Dr. Keith Gregory of the U.S. Meat Animal Research
Center and Dr. Ronnie Green, Professor of Animal Breeding and Genetics.
All things considered, in tough, hot climates, the Hotlander™ cattle do
more things right than any other cattle we have ever seen. They are
being used all over the southern half of the U.S., from Florida to
California, as well as Mexico, South America and Australia . |

Red Angus
Red Angus is the most trouble free herd in our purebred program. We
love their natural thickness, uniformity, fleshing ability and
tremendous fertility. With some of the most sought after donors in the
industry and some of our herd bulls in AI stud including, Commitment,
Schuler Envy, Norseman King, Celebration, Mission Statement, Vacation,
Cheyenne, Good One, Made Right, and Major League, our Red Angus herd has
come to the forefront of the industry. We attribute this to disciplined
breeding strategies of stacking proven AI sires, generation after
generation, along with owning the best breeding stock we can find. We
design these cattle to have calving ease with high growth in a
moderately framed package, plus strong carcass traits, superior
reproductive efficiency and adaptability to hot and harsh climates. |

Simmental
For more than 30 years, our Simmental bulls have been known for
really high growth in a sound, moderate frame that is easy fleshing and
good calving. Today we bring them to you in a solid red or black color
and naturally polled. Also we have added the newest dimension with
excellent carcass traits: red meat yield, marbling and tenderness. |
|
SimAngus
Our Simmental herd has been bred for 3 decades to produce maximum
growth in an optimum sized animal. For a number of years now, we have
bred our yearling Simmental heifers (our newest and best genetics) to
moderate sized, easy fleshing and high carcass quality Red Angus and
Angus bulls to produce an ideal beef animal, 50% English & 50%
Continental. Our SimAngus females just weaned one of the heaviest sets
of calves on the ranch and every one of them bred back. |
